Franklin County Republicans Adopt Resolution on Face Masks in Schools
Louisburg, NC – The Franklin County Republican Party's Executive Committee has adopted a school face mask resolution.
During its 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. meeting Monday, February 14, the Board of Education will vote on whether to continue mask mandates in Franklin County Schools. The meeting will be held at Louisburg High School, 201 Allen Lane, Louisburg.
Each county’s Board of Education is required to evaluate mask policy monthly. In recent months, two Board members have consistently voted against forced face mask requirements: Republican Meghan Jordan and Independent Debra Brodie. The five Democrat school board members continue to vote to make students wear masks.
If you wish to express your opinion on face masks in the schools, please arrive by 5:30 p.m. to sign up to speak. There is a three minute time limit with 30 minutes allocated for the public to address the Board.
This is the resolution approved by the Franklin County Republican Party:
The Franklin County Republican Party supports the right of parents to choose how to protect their children's health, including the freedom to choose whether or not their student should wear a face mask while attending a Franklin County public school. In addition, the Franklin County Republican Party holds that no student shall be subject to penalty for failure to wear a mask during school or school event.
