In Memory of Dr. Thomas
Wheless, 87

Dr. Thomas Wheless and Lois at March 17 GOP County
Convention in Louisburg
Republican activist and former Louisburg Town Councilwoman
Lois Wheless said her husband, Dr. Thomas Wheless, 87, died suddenly on Monday,
June 19. The Whelesses have been active in Republican politics for over 20
years and, according to the June 21 edition of the Franklin Times, Dr. Wheless
was "the epitome of the so-called country doctor," said Dr. J.B. Perdue, a
longtime colleague and friend.
"I wish we could go back to those times," Perdue said. "He was what a family
doctor was all about. He treated everything. Anything you had, he could treat it
or send you to the right person."
Dr. Wheless practiced for 40 years and retired in 1988.
Dr. Wheless will be sorely missed and our thoughts and prayers will be with Lois
and her family.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 23 at Oakwood Cemetery in
Louisburg.
Lois said she would love to hear from everyone so call her at (919)
496-3566.
