LOUISBURG NC, NOVEMBER 13, 2005 -- Lois
Wheless, who is very active in the Franklin County Republican Party, was honored
by the town of Louisburg at Green Hill Country Club on Sunday for her 36 years
of service on the town council. Below is the proclamation Lois received.

PROCLAMATION HONORING THE OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE OF LOIS BROWN WHELESS
WHEREAS,
The Citizens of Franklin County and Louisburg, NC have benefited greatly from
the unselfish service and dedication given to our community by Mrs. Lois Brown
Wheless for five decades; and,
WHEREAS, Lois Brown Wheless has demonstrated her commitment to the
success of Louisburg College by serving as a member of the Board of Visitors,
the Board of Trustees, and further as a member of the Executive Board of the
Louisburg College Board of Trustees, with the honor of being named Louisburg
College Alumnus of the Year in 1976; and,
WHEREAS, Lois Brown Wheless has served as Past President of the Franklin
Memorial Hospital Guild, member of the Franklin County Medical Auxiliary, the
Louisburg Garden Club, and numerous other local community improvement
activities; and,
WHEREAS, The vast list of statewide civic duty performed by Lois Brown
Wheless includes service as Chair of the Kerr-Tar Council of Governments,
Louisburg Zoning Board member, League of Woman Voters member, Director – N.C.
Consumers Council,
Consumer Committee of the N.C. Milk Commission member, Director – N.C. League of
Municipalities, Commissioner – N.C. Eastern Municipal Power Agency,
Electricities Building Committee; and,
WHEREAS, Lois Brown Wheless has the Honor of being the longest serving
female Local Governing Board member currently serving in the State of North
Carolina as a result of her distinguished continuous duty to the Louisburg Town
Council from 1969 to present,
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED, This the 13th Day of
November, 2005, that LOIS BROWN WHELESS be Honored for her unselfish,
unparalleled, and dedicated service to the citizens of Louisburg, N.C. and
Franklin County, and the Louisburg Town Council requests all citizens to join in
the recognition and appreciation for her commitment to our community.
