'No' School Bond
March 13, 2006

Mr, Gregorius, with all due respect, I am sick and tired of biting the bullet. I bit the bullet the last time we had a school bond issue. I bit the bullet when we had a tax revaluation and now you want me to bite the bullet again. I DON`T THINK SO. I am sick and tired of paying more taxes and fees everywhere I turn. I am sick and tired of people that don't pay taxes voting for a tax increase. If you want to pay more taxes for schools please help yourself. I hate to tell you but the schools will not be any better by throwing more money at them. You want better schools get better teachers, return discipline and respect to our classrooms. Do away with teacher tenure and only pass students that qualify to be passed and we will have much better schools.

Please tell me why we need to pass this bond issue because I thought the education lottery would help pay for new schools. I guess this could be business as usual. We pass a bond and take care of our needs in Franklin County and the state will then say we do not need lottery money and it will go to other schools with greater needs.

I encourage all Franklin County residents to Vote NO. NO MORE TAXES, NO MORE FEES AND NO MORE BONDS!

Note: The $45-million school bond will be on the May 2 primary ballot.

'No' Impact Fees
March 13, 2006

Impact fees, rising taxes and wasteful goverment spending -- where will this all end? I just don`t get it ! Could someone please tell me why a person building a new home should be burdened by an impact fee? Some say it is to pay for infastructure, but if I build a new home in Franklin County the house would use an existing road or I would have to put in a new road at my expense. The electric service would be paid for by me or the electric company not the county. If I need county water I will still have to pay for conection fees and/or line extension. All of these costs mentioned above will be paid by me not the county. Some people say we need an impact fee to pay for schools. Whether I have a child in school or not I will pay county taxes that will support the schools. I will pay this tax for the rest of my life. If I had a child in school it would only be for 12 years. I think the taxes I pay should be enough to pay for his or her education. If the county disagrees, please give me a refund for the amount of my taxes that go to schools and I will educate my children myself. Anyway you look at it, an impact fee is just another tax on the land owner. How much more can we take? Maybe it is time for another Tea Party!
