Dear Editor:
I find it hard to stomach another school bond tax when our Democratic
leaders, tax hikers Sen. Doug Berger and Rep. Lucy Allen, can magically give
their political friends in Franklin County $600,000 of our state tax dollars
including $50,000 for a Democratic commissioner’s restaurant.
Why didn’t Berger and Allen allocate that $600.000 to help build a school?
After all, they are the ones pushing for this May school bond, which will
result in another hefty property tax increase. Last year, the lottery
allocated about $ l.5 million for our schools. Add the $600,000 taken from
the school budget and it would be over $2 million.
It’s a bit ironic that we are the highest taxed state in the Southeast, yet
the Democrats have no qualms pocketing our tax dollars for their personal
gain at our expense.
I thought the Democrats were more concerned about building schools, not
building restaurants at taxpayers’ expense.
