Flip-Floppin' Berger-Allen Tax Twins

Democrat state Senator Doug Berger and Representative Lucy Allen have outdone themselves on pork barrel spending --including a $400,000 teapot museum-- and high taxes, that they have made North Carolina the highest taxed state in the Southeast! Not only that, but both have been flip-flopping too.

Allen, Berger 'twins' at it again with taxes

Dear Editor:

It's time for another Boston Tea Party because our Democrat tax twins, state Sen. Doug Berger and Rep. Lucy Allen, have outdone themselves again on tax increases.

You can thank the Berger-Allen tax twins for jacking up our license plate fees from $20 to $28, more taxes on farm equipment, fees on tombstones and caskets (now you're taxed before and after death), soaring cable and satellite TV taxes, movie taxes, concert taxes, and yes, even a candy tax!

Thanks to the Berger-Allen tax twins, we have some of the highest gas taxes in the nation, and now we're the highest taxed state in the Southeast! That's right, we're the highest taxed state in the Southeast!

And what do we get with these tax increases and over a BILLION dollars in new wasteful spending? Well, while we're getting ready for another Boston Tea Party, we can pick up some teapots at the $400,000 teapot museum in Alleghany County that the Berger-Allen twins voted for.

Berger sends out conflicting message

Dear Editor:

It's time to expose the flip-flops.

Doug Berger says there are two North Carolinas, but there are two Doug Bergers.

One Doug Berger says he opposes raising taxes on tobacco, but the other Doug Berger voted for a whopping 600 percent tax increase on tobacco.

Now which Doug Berger is it?

You can't have it both ways, Doug.

Is Lucy Allen for or Against Widening Hwy. 401?

Coincidence?
In March last year, according to the year (2005) in review in the Jan. 21 edition of The Franklin Times, the $90 million U.S. 401 widening project from Raleigh (actually from Lassiter Mill Road just north of the Neuse River bridge) to Louisburg, was "pushed back," actually dropped I believe it was, from the current DOT Transportation Plan (TIP) barely one month after state Rep. Lucy Allen was appointed to a chairmanship on the House Transportation Committee. -Asher Johnson's column, The Franklin Times, Jan. 25, 2006. Recently, Allen has been supporting the widening of 401, just like she did before she was on the House Transportation Committee. Flip-flops, Lucy?
